OLYMPIC AFTERMATH
- ARMY TEAM DISQUALIFIED ANGER IN POLAND WARSAW, Aug. 23. An outcry has arisen from the belated disqualification of the Polish Army team in the military event at the Olympic Games, which promotes the British Army team from third to second place. Polish newspapers are angered because the protest came from Czechoslovakia with whom Poland’s relations are strained. A demand has been made to Poland to return the six medals won at the Olympic Games. The matter is being considered by the Poland Olympic Committee. WORLD RECORD DANISH WOMAN SWIMMER BERNE, Aug. 23. Miss Ragnhild Hveger (Denmark) who, at the Olympic Games finished second in the final of the 400 metros free style swimming, established a new world record for 1000 metres. Her time was 4min. 35'isec. CROSS OF HONOUR OLYMPIC GAMES AWARDS LONDON, Aug. 23. Mr N. Alderson, manager of the Australian Olympic team, has been awarded the first-class of the Olympic Cross ,of Honour by the German Government. Other recipients include King Boris of Bulgaria and Lord Burghley, chairman of the British Olympic Council.
