At New York Aldo Spoldi, Italian lightweight knocked out “Kid” Berg (England) in the second round of a scheduled 10-round DAIRY FARMER KILLED CAR HIT BY TRAIN. MISHAP AT LEVEL CROSSING. [Per Press Association] CHRISTCHURCH, July 23. David Williamson, aged 62, a dairy farmer, of Halswell, was killed when the car he was driving was struck by the Little River train on the Clarence Road crossing at Addington at 4 o’clock this afternoon. The car was smashed almost to scrap metal. There were no other occupants of the car. Williamson, it is stated, stopped before going on to . the crossing, on which there are four tracks. He then went on to the line and the car was struck by the engine of a train which carried it along and wedged it against a signal-box beside the line. Williamson died 35 minutes after the accident. His injuries were the fracture of both arms, the loss of an eye and a gash on the side of his face. He drove his car over this crossing every day.
