The Colonial Secretary (Hon. W. Ormsby-Gore) stated in the House of Commons in answer to a question that he hoped to announce the personnel of the Palestine Commission and the terms of reference on Wednesday. ' The Commission obviously could not go to Palestine, where the position, he said, was still serious, until sufficient order had been restored to enable it to make an investigation. Replying to another question, Mr. Ormsby-Gore referred to the suggests. that there should be a temporary suspension of immigration while the Commission carries out its inquiry, and said that he was not at present in a position to make any statement as to the intentions of the Government, beyond saying that their decision would be taken in due course on the merits of the case and would not be influenced by violence or attempts at in- 1 timidation.
