IT'S SUCH FUN
DRESSING UP FOR A BALL Its great fun to wear fancy dress, or “dressing up’’ for a ball. For some time before a dance you will hear people talk about what they would “like to- go as.” If only they would carry out some of the ideas which strike them, fancy dress dances would contain more good notions and fewer pierrots, Spanish ladies, and cowboys. A fancy dress ball can be full of enjoyment if everyone —or as many as possible, will enter into the spirit of the thing and wear fancy dress. There is such scope for originality in the categories known as topical, personal, and historical. A costume need not be expensive to be successful. It is the little things that c f, ’int in the general ensemble of fancy dress, ana choosing the type of costume that best suits you. It is not always wise to- dress up as your favourite hero, or the film star you admire. There is better chance of success in looking the part if you choose a character near yc-ur own type and remember all the little details which are so important—such as correct make-up. There should be a resemblance in face as well as in clothes, and t'his calls for considerable skill in theatrical make-up.
