TIMELY GIFT
FOR WA’PIATA SANATORIUM DUNEDIN BUSINESS MAN’S GENEROSITY (Per Press Association, j INVERCARGILL, May 27. The gratifying news Las been rff ceived by the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee that Air Samuel Saltzman, a well-known Dunedin business man, has given £3OOO to the committee for the erection of the administrative and treatment block of the sanatorium. Construction of this block had to be postponed in 1931 owing to the depression. Plans and specifications hu«l been prepared but the committee’s finances would not permit its erection “This is a magnificent gift, coming at a time when the block : s urgently r eeded and v* hen the committee’s expt nditure o.i si.citers has left it financial! v embarrassed.” said the secretary of the committee, Mr T. Pryde. when announcing the gift. “We will be able to proceed almost immediately with the erection of the blo’k, for Mr Saltzman is leaking the money available at once. Air Saltzman is a mo-t I v.blic-spirited citizen, foi other institutions have recently received substantial gifts from him.”
