Lamb and Mutton Easier Lambs: The markt has declined; but a further decline is not expected and there is a little better demand. Wethers; The demand is moderate, with prices a little lower. Ewes: The market is depressed, owing to an absence ot demand. Beef: The chilled beef market is over-supplied, and prices are affected in consequence. Pork: Thie market is quiet and unchanged. Trade generally is quiet. The above cabled report was received yesterday by Henry 8. Fitter and Boas, Ltd., from their London office, which quotes current prices as follow: —New Zealand Jambs, ’Downs, 2’s, 7jd to 7|d; secondary lambs, ’Down, 7d to 7jd; New Zealand lambs, 2’s, 7d to 7Jd; B’s, 6r.d to 6i; 4’s, 6 l-8d to 6 3 8d; secondary lambs, 6 5-8 d to 6 7-8 d; New Zealand mutton, small, 4 1-8 to sd; large, 3 5-8 d to 4d; New Zealand ewes, small, 3id to 4 1-Sd; large, 3d to 31d; N.Z. beef, ox hinds (frozen), 3Jd to 4d; lores, 23-8 d to 25-8 d; Dominion chilled hinds, 34d to 4d; lores, 2jd to 2tu; South. American chilled hinds, 4d tu sd; fores, 2£d to 3id; New Zeaiand pork, 5d Io sid; Australian lambs, s{d to 6id; Argentina lambs, s£d to 6Jd. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated May 22: Frozen meat quotations (prices ou a “delivered” basis, i.e., inMuding storage charges, cartage, market tolls, etc.): — North Island, down lambs, 28/36’ibs., 7 3-8 d per lb; 36/42, 6|d per lb; best North Island crossbred iambs, 28/36, 7 l-8d per lb; 36/42, 6Jd per lb; North Island second quality lambs, average : 30/31, GJd per lb; best North Island wotlier sheep, under 481 b., 4 7-8 d per lb; 48/56, 4 5-8 d per lb; 56 z 64. 4{d per lib; 61/72, 4d per lb; North Island ewes, under 481 b.. 4d per lb; 48/56 3Jd per lb; 56/64, 3|d per lb; 64/72. 3}d per lb; New Zealand prime ox oeef. 160/220 3ld per lb.” Compared with last week’s quotations ’Down lambs, 36/421b5., and crossbred
iambs, 28/361bs, l-8d per lb. lower; second quality lambs, id per lb. lower; wethers, 48/561b5., l-8d pc? lb. lower; ewes, under 481b5., 3-8 d per lb. lower; 48/641b5., per lb. lower. Others unchanged. The market continues weak. There is considerable pressure to cell. The future outlook is rather uncertain.
