WEDDINGS

TOMB—HARPER A very pretty wedding was solemnised in the Presbyterian -Church, Bulls, on May 16, when Elsie Alaud, third daughter of Air. and Airs. A. Harper, was married to Wilson Toms, only son of Air. and Airs. W. Toms, of Greatford. The ceremony was performed by Rev. T. G. Shilton, and Airs. Alorris (aunt of the bridegroom) presided at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wc-re an ankle-length frock of pale pink satin and radium lace, with hat and shoes -to tone. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, pink gladioli, and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by Aliss Sylvia Beckman as bridesmaid, who was attired in a frock of blue crepe de chine, with hat and shoes to match. She carried a bouquet of roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. Air. Les Harper, brother of the bride, was best man. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride’s parents. ■ Mrs. Harper receiving her guests, wealing a navy ensemble, with hat and | shoes to tone, and carrying a bouquet i of chrysanthemums. Airs. , Terns, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black frock, with coat and hat to match. After the usual toasts had been honoured, the happy couple left amid showers of confetti, carrying with them the best of good wishes cn the-ir honeymoon motor trip in the North. The bride was attired in brown, with coat and hat to lone. CALDER—CATE. A quiet wedding was solemnised on May J 5 by the Rev. H. E. Fry at St. James’ Church, Lower Hutt, the con- | trading parties being Edna Lillian Cate (Taitiape), daughter of Air. and Mrs. G. H. Cate, Lower Hutt, late of Featherston, and Alfred John Calder (Taihape), eldest son of Airs, and the late Air. A. D. Calder, Loc-hiel, Southland. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked very smart in a French model gown of bottle green beaded j chenille marocain made on close-fitting j lines, with hat and accessories to match. At the conclusion of the service n reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents. Air. and Airs, Calder will reside i n Taihape.
