MADAME ALWYN
LECTURE TO WOMEN, Continuing her series of lectures, Madame Lauri Alwyn gave an intimate and thought-provoking address to a large number of women on {Saturday afternoon at the Opera House. The subjects dealt with were, “Love, Romance, and Alarriagc—the Psychology of box.’’ fehc si>oke of the necessity for wider knowledge on mutters of great interest to women. Alucli advice was given in a frank, straightforward manner, with explanations that are convincing because of their simplicity. “Wc value too much the things we can see and not the things that matter,” said the speaker when referring to the subject of marriage and importance of preparing daughters for such time as they wish to make a home and settle down. Financial security seemed of great importance, and a prospective son-in-law was judged by parents from that standpoint. “Had he a good position? could he give their daughter a good home, the clothes she would need and three meals a day?” The thing that matters is real love. Alost women marry the next best thing when they could have had the best. “Don’t let your daughters marry the next best thing; but marry where real love is, and let the young people build their home and happiness together,” said the speaker. The audience of women thoroughly enjoyed Aladanie Alwyn’s lecture, which was witty and most entertaining as well as being instructive, and she was heartily applauded at the conclusion of the talk. A number of questions were aslved and answered in •a very interesting manner. This evening there is a lecture for women only, the subject being “How to Lift Facial Aluscles and Remove Wrinkles,” also a demonstration of exercises for health and figure culture.
