New Zealand’s Wool Cheque NEARLY £10,000,000 RECORD QUALITY SOLD The total realisation of the wool ’’ sold at the 29 auctions of the 1935-36 s season from November to April was £9,840,427, compared with £4,401,010 for the corresponding period of last I season. This represents an increase of g £5,439,417, or 126.50 per cent, and is only £400,614 short of the total realir sation for 1933-34. (1 The quantities of wool offered and sold this season constitute a record for the Dominion. A total of 768,933 bales (. was offered, of which 737,454 bales were sold, as compared with 527,283 ’ bales 'Offered and 471,512 bales sold g d. ring the 1934-85 season. During the years 1933-34, when prices soared unaccountably, 633,553 bales were sold, realising £10,241,041, the average price per bale being £l6/3/3.469 and the average per lb., 11.127 d. The following table shows the offer- ■ ings and sales at each selling centre this season and the increase in sales i over those for the 1934-35 season:
Increase ... 241,650 265,042 The table shows that the total offerings this year at 768,933 bales exceeded those of last season by 241,650 bales or 45.82 per cent.; and that the total actual sales at 737,454 bales exceeded those of the 1934-35 season by 265,9-12 bales, or 56.40 per cent. The figures show that the quantity of wool sold this season, namely, 737,454 bales, is the greatest for 15 seasons, the next best year being 633,553 bales in 1933-34. This year’s total realisation of £9,840,427 has been exceeded only three times during the 15 seasons, namely, in 1927-28, 1928-29, and 193334. The following table shows the average prices per pound and per bale realised by the wool sold during the last 14 years:—
