MAINTENANCE OF PEACE
BRITAIN AS POTENT FACTOR SUPPORT I’ROM DOMINIONS ( Per Press Association ) AUCKLAND, Aug. 9. “We are associated in an empire which stands for the maintenance of world peace.’’ said the Prime Alinister of Australia, Air J. A. Lyons, when speaking at a Government luncheon tendered to him in Auckland. “ [ believe that whatever Government is in power in Britain, it will stand for peace. “While Britain has defences, which earn the respect of other countries, she will be a potent factor for world peace. We of the Dominions are with her in that regard, and if we help to hold that place the world will have peace. It is for. us to play our part in backing Britain in maintaining peace. I would bg proud to be associated with her in that effort.” When interviewed on the Alariposa, Air Lyons said that while the Empire representatives were in London, a general talk took place on defence from the British standpoint. The British Government, as usual, took the various Governments into its confidence as to its policy.
