SEQUEL TO U.S. AIR MAIL TRAGEDIES COMMITTEE PLACES BLAME Received Aug. 9, 9.5 p.m. WASHIXGiON, Aug. 9. Major-General Benjamin Foulois, Chief of the Army (Corps, has been retired at his own request, terminating clio controversy, with the House Military Affairs Committee, whic.li charged Euulois with making improper purchases of ’planes and with misinforming tho committee by saying that Army aviators were capable ot flying mails in the Aviuler of .1931, when President Roosevelt cancelled the civilian air mail contracts, after which several army flyers were killed.
