HoUgson, owner o.f Valpai. lie appealed against the decision of the Auckland District Committee in upholding the appeal of G. Hodgson, owner or 'Thespis, against the Avondale Jockey Club s decision in dismissing G. Hodgson'.', protest ugainst Vuipai b-eing placed first in the Hobsonville Hurdle., run on April 29. Iho AucKland District Cu-nimittee last month considered the appeal c-L Mr. G. Hodgson against the Avondale JocKey Club's decision not to alter the placings when Valpai beat Thespis iu the Hobsonville Hurdle Race at the club’s autumn nreeling. After a lengthy sitting the District Committee found;—• ‘ Tnat Air. G. Hodgson’s appeal be upheld on the ground that Valpai was not trained lor racing by his owner m accordance with t.ic Rules of Racing, the District Committee's opinion being strengthened by the signed evidence given by Air. L. Hodgson at the Avondale inquiry, that the horse was sent to the Dargaville meeting under the charge of Mr. J. Muir, who was r.ot Hie ladder of a trainer’s licence.” This meant that Valpai was disqualified for the race and first moneyawarded to Thespis, second money to H. Ames, and third money to The Sun.
