LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE
TONE OF QUIET CONFIDENCE. Received March 20, 12.2 a.m. LONDON, March 19. While German developments caused a dullness on the Stock Exchange no serious effect was produced. Dealers lowered prices as a measure of precaution against realisations, but . the ‘volume of selling proved inconsiderable. Bargain hunters made their appearance and though early losses were not entirely regained a tone of quiet confidence prevailed at the close. British funds were lowered to an extent of upwards of a point in some cases, but the losses later were appreciably reduced. Industrials were generally weaker and the foreign market was weak. German bonds dropped 24 to 3 points.
