Experts are now working out au elaborate German defence law, including additions to the German ile-et, the status of Storm. Troopers and Blackshirts and the position of Jews in the new army. The Jews will probably be organised as special construction squads and will not be allowed to carry arms. Herr Goebbels professes to be astonished at the world’s surprise about Germany’s conscription. In an article entitled “Logic and Clarity” he says:— “The world ought to be thankful, as Germany’s announcement at least uisposes of secrecy. A disarmed Germany was a disquieting factor in Europe. The reintroduction of military service restores the balance necessary to make possible a fruitful discussion of unsolved European problems. ’ ’
