THE NEXT BAND CONTEST

WANGANUI’S APPLICATION As an outcome of a public meeting called by the Alayor (Mr. N. G. Armstrong), for to-night, it is probable that an application will go forward to the New Zealand Brass Bands’ Association for the .1936 band contest to be hold in Wanganui. Wanganui rani a big contest about seven years ago and so well handled was the organisation that the city whs complimented by every band attending. The arrangements were got through without a hitch and delightful weather favoured the promoters. It is felt that Wanganui’s turn to hold the contest has come again, and it is probable that to-night’s meeting will display marked enthusiasm. Two applications for the contest have been made so far, one by Palmerston North and the other by New Plymouth. If sufficient support is forthcoming to-night Wanganui’s upplication will be ba •ked verv strO’.g’.Y.
