OBITUARY
DR. FREDERICK GIBSON I Per Press Association. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 5. 'I he death occurred suddenly at Riccarton racecourse to-day of Dr. Frederick Goulburn Gibson, aged 63, a wellknown medical man and prominent sportsman. He dropped dead outside the weighing-in room. He had been in poor health, and to-day was having his first outing for some time. MR. T. R. TRIPE. ( Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON. Nov. 5. 'l’he death occurred at Rotorua last night of Thomas Richard Tripe, 67. a member of a well-known Welling:on family. Deceased had gone to Rotorua to see. his. brother, Air. A. H. Tripe, prior to leaving on a trip to Tasmania, when he became suddenly ill and died. Mr. Tripe was born at Rangiora in 1867, being the fifth son of the late Dr. William Borrondale Tripe and his wife. Coming to Wellington with his parents in 1878, he received his education at the Mount Cook School and Wellington College. He joined the staff of the Union Steam Ship Company in 1884, and with that firm he served in many capacities, ultimately becoming manager at Launceston, Tasmania, in 1916. He retired from the company’s service about three years ago.
