WANGANUI OARSMEN
MOSS IN HOSPITAL. CONDITION NOT SERIOUS. A private cablegram received in Wanganui yesterday from the manager of the Wanganui Union Boat Club crew in Melbourne conveyed an intimation that A. Moss, one of the oarsmen had been admitted to hospital, having suffered a severe strain. His condition was not serious but an X-ray examination was to have been made yesterday. Apparently Moss had a recurrence of the trouble which came his way at the championship regatta at Pict on. In the absence of further intimation from Air. E. Crotty, the manager, it may be assumed that the condition of Aloss is improving. A rumour that .Moss was critically ill gained ground in Wanganui last even ing, apparently as the result of a garbled version of the contents of the cablegram. Later in the evening it. was freely reported that the paticnit’s condition had taken the most serious turn and for a lengthy period telephone inquiries as to the truth of the report were received by the “Chronicle.” Happily, this office was in a position to give a definite denial of the rumour.
