AMATEUR TOURNAMENT TWELVE BOUTS ARRANGED FIXTURES FOR TO-MORROW. The Wanganui Amateur Wrestling Tournament is to bo held to-morrow evening in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium, beginning at 7.45 o’clock. Many good matches have been arranged, and twelve good bouts are assured. The draw is as follows: McConachy v. Beamsley. J. Lane v. W. Lett. Kitney v. A.' Barnes. F. Podjursky v. C. Sharland. Sheppard v. J. Podjursky. Kitney v. Vodanovich. Simmonds v. McNamara. J. Head v. R. Styles. A. Podjursky v. B. Gibson. D. McCallum v. Whiteside. Chavanncs v. Pickworth. Travers v. Malcolm. Young v. Willacy. BOUT AT AUCKLAND VERDICT FOE SONNENBERG DETTON BOWLED OVER ( Per Press Association ). AUCKLAND, Sept. 17. Gus Sonnenberg, former wrestling champion of the world, and Deau Detton were responsible for about forty minutes of the brightest and most exciting wrestling seen in recent years. Sonnenberg won by two falls to one, the bout ending in the fifth round. There was a sensational opening to the match, Sonnenberg charging head first into his opponent heavily three or four times immediately the gong had sounded. He then pounced upon Detton to secure the first fall with a bodypress within fifteen seconds of the start. The second fall went to Dettori in the third round when, after a series of flying tackles, he back-loop-slammed his opponent and got down for a body press. The match ended almost as sensationally as it had commenced. At the end of the fourth round Detton escaped from a possible Boston crab by pulling himself under the ropes. Sonnenberg repeated this performance early in the fifth round and Detton commenced to argue with the referee.
