EX-CONVICT’S JOBS
GOVERNMENT SITUATIONS. It was revealed at the Old Bailey, London, a few weeks ago, that an ex convict with 18 previous convictions obtained situations in Government offices. Judge Whiteley, K.C., expressed surprise at the fact. Edwin Horace Nall, aged 54, was found guilty of obtaining commissions amounting to about £6 by fraud. A policeman stated that after his reI lease from prison in September, 1931, !?sall was employed for a short time as a clerk in the Inland Revenue and in the Post Office. He was convicted at the age of 20. Nall from the dock, said that he had been employed in four different Government departments since his release from prison, and that he had handled thousands of pounds’ worth of Post Office Savings Certificates. He obtained the work on the recommendation of his former commanding officer. The judge said that he would -give Nall another chance. He postponed sentence until the following session.
