THE JUNIOR GRADE UNITED SOUNDLY BEATEN TECHNICAL OLD BOYS’ WIN The Technical Old Boys’ match with United on Peat Park last Saturday resulted in a five-point win for Tech. Old Boys. United had first use -of a good wicket, but against the consistent bowling of Falconer, Hambly, Barnett and Spooner could only muster .106 runs. Woods (24), batted quite well and scored fairly rapidly. A misunderstanding resulted in Spooner, his opening partner, being run out after he had scored 5. Dashfield (.17), Pike (16), Inglis (10), and Robi ison (10 not out), were the other double-figure scorers. The wind caused the bowlers to swing disconcertingly The best bowlers for Tech. Old Roys were Falconer (two for 13), rhid Barnett (four for 5). Galyer and Barnett opened for Tech. Old Boys to Inglis and Francis. A fast yorker in the first over saw Galyer depart without scoring, but Barnett continued to bat breezily, hitting lustily at the fast bowler, and his 81, whilst not a classic exhibition, was invaluable to his side. United’s score was passed with two wickets down. Dark batted exceptionally well for 41, and McCormick (19), Spooner (20), Hambly (12), Ball (27), and Spencer (16), all gave of their best. United tried a great number of bowlers. Woods, two for 14, was the most successful.
