ANNUAL SWIMMING CARNIVAL MANY INTERESTING EVENTS The annual swimming sports of the Wanganui Girls’ College was held in the college bath on Saturday afternoon- The attendance was limited as a result of the fact that only parents and others specially invited were present. There were some very exciting fin ishes. Results were as follows: 25 yards championship: June Summerell. 12 yards, under 11: Barbara Palley. Beginners’ Dive: Jocylean Grieve* 25 yards freestyle: June Summerell. 25 yards breaststroke: Anna Jackson. 25 yards back stroke: Betty Blair. Life-saving rescue: June Summerell. Diving for brick: Anna Jackson. 25 yards under 15: Vivienne Summerell* Junior diving championship: Gwen Gilberd. 25 senior breaststroke: Helen Rees-Jones. Egg and spoon race: Joan Graham. Senior diving championship: Betty Blair. 25 yards under 14: Pat Shirt cliff e* Corfu dive: Joyce Marchant and Joan Graham25 yards junior breaststroke: Millie Hedditch. 25 yards handicap (open, : Joy Summerell. 50 yards senior championship; June Summerell. 29 yards backstroke, under 14: Pbyl lis BartonPlunge: Jannette Granger 38ft.
