RED PLOT NIPPED
SMART DETECTIVE WORK BOMB GIVES THE SIGNAL HONGKONG, Dec. 12. Smart police work in the heart of Hongkong’s Chinese quarter effectively stopped a Red rising. Following the murder of a Chinese detective the police discovered a plot for a Red rising, starting in a Chinese hotel. Unknown to the Reds, the waiters were suddenly changed for detectives whilst in the streets mingled with the crowds were hundreds of detectives disguised as beggars, hawkers, etc. The police had information that the signal for the rising was a bomb hurled from the roof of the hotel*
Immediately the bomb was thrown, the disguised detectives drew concealed weapons and 100 uniformed officers also appeared and formed a cordon, ar resting 20 dangerous armed agitators, who were completely surprised. Not a shot was fired.
