CHILDREN’S PARTY

D.I.C. TEA ROOMS. Another very enjoyable tea-party was held at the D.I.C. tearooms on Saturday morning. Fruit salads with black golliwogs reposing in the centre were among the many good things provided. Chinese lanterns and balloons were effectively arranged round the room and decorated the windows. Dancing items by Aliss Lucie Broadhead’s pupils were given on a specially erected stage at the end of the room and which was effectively decorated with lanterns and balloons. First came the “Toy Ballet,” in which Tina O’Halloran took the part of the toy soldier, Jean Westwood and Pat Holmes as the Jack in the Boxes, Joan Edwards and Norma Bracker as the Golliwogs; Alavis Cooper and Afyrtle Lee as the Jesters, and Zclma White as the Doll. This was charmingly danced and proved a most popular item on the programme. A Spanish dance given by Card Graham, and a tap ballet by Pat Holmes, Jean Westwood, C. Graham, Alavis Cooper, Norma Bracker, Faith Harvey and Theresa Anderson were very much enjoyed. Another charming dance was the ‘‘Plum Pudding and Imps," danced by W. Lcngstaff, J. Edwards, Al. Lee and L. White, as the imps and Pam Lewis as the plum puddin£- . , «...

After the dancing Father Christmas appeared on the stage, accompanied by Afickey and Alinnic the Alouse. He carried many parcels and made the children delightfully happy by shaking hands and distributing the gifts. Alickey the Alouse circled the tea room and a few fortunate small folks were privileged to ride with him. Among those present were:—Alesdames Allan, H. G. Hoisley, Leo Campion, G. J. Adams, Kernohan, Bellringer, N. Bain, Hatrick, O’Toole.
