LATEST FILM CENSORSHIP

An original form of censorship of the film has been introduced in the ultra-clerical province of Vorarlberg in the popular Vienna picture “Nur Dich hab’ ich Geliebt.”

The scene is a night resort where the dresses of the dancers arc of the scanti-est-description. Although the film censor at Vienna has allowed the picture, which has been running for some months, the provincial censor in Y r ora riberg declared that the dresses of the dancers were “sinful.”

Since it was impossible to cut the offending strip, as in a silent film, as this would ruin the synchronisation of the music, the censor decreed that opaque material should be pasted over the offending section of tho film. Therefore, on the commencement of a tango, a black strip appears on the screen covering the wancers from tho neck downwards until the dance ends.

Sir.—Referring to your correspondent’s inquiry in your issue of September 28, if a note in my possession is correct this epitaph, is to bo found at Bury St. Edmunds, and runs thus:—

“Here lie the. remains of L. Gedgo Printer, Like a worn-out character, he has returned to the Founder, Hoping that he will be re cast in a better and more perfect mould.” Fakcnham, Norfolk. J. Culley.
