SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS

THE ANNUAL CONTERENCE [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Sept. 24. The South African Veterans’ Conference was opened to-day by the Minister of Defence, who said he had gone into the matter of granting of pensions before the ago of 65, if disability occurred, but it was hardly possible. It would mean 78 men coming on the pensions scheme and more later, and there was a danger of alteration of the pension age from 65 to 60. This would form an attractive election cry, and its effect would go further. The conference is proceeding, Captain J. Clark presiding.
