HIGH COMMISSIONEB’S ADVICE. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated November 3, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— “Tallow.—No auction this week owing to small arrivals. Bather more business on spot at prices established at last auction. “Beef.—Sweet and/or mixed now quoted 40s to 41s. Others unchanged. “Apples. —Trade slow. Imported in large quantities. Present quotations are: American and British Columbia Jonathans, 10s to 12s 6d; Oregan Newton 13s to 16s, and, Californian Ils 6d to 12s 6d. Fair quantity of Winesaps expected next week. “Hemp.—Manila—lighter output figures and reserve of sellers caused advance this week, but market closes quieter. “J” grade for JanuaryMarch shipment quoted at £35 10s. Sisal market continues dull. Afloat pressed for sale. Fair average quality No. 1 offered at £35; January-March shipment £35 10s, with good marks at £36. No. 2 nominally 30s less. New Zealand little better tone in sympathy with Manila, but very little business being done. Nominal comparative closing values for November-January shipments are high points £33; fair £29 ss; common £2Bs “Wool.—Sales continue satisfactory. Limited supplies of crossbred well competed for, and opening values well maintained.”
