A FIREMAN’S THEFT

MAGISTRATE'S DECISION AUCKLAND, Dee. 8. A young fireman on the Malolo named O’Reilly was charged at the Poliei Court with having stolen £23 from Ernest Shine. The latter was staying at tho City Hotel during Sunday night. He woke to find O 'Reilly at the foot of his bed and later discovered that £23 or £3O in notes had been stolen from his trousers pocket. A detective accompanied Shine to the Malolo. where three crumpled notes were found beneath O’Reilly’s bunk. Mr Hunt, S.M.. remanded accused to 3 p.m. and said that failing the return of the missing money ho would be sentenced to six months’ gaol.
