THAMES IN FLOOD

WIDE AREAS UNDER WATER MONTH’S HEAVY RAINFALL. [ British Official Wireless ] RUGBY, Nov. 30. The upper reaches of the Thames arc in many places in a state of flood, and the river is steadily rising; during the past 48 hours there has been a rise of sixteen inches near Windsor. Serious floods have developed in the Midlands and wide areas are under water. In the south-east of England the flood has so altered the countryside as viewed from the air that an air liner pilot yesterday from Cologne failed to pick up familiar marks and had to steer a compass course to Croydon. In London, which has suffered much less severely than other parts of the country, the rainfall registered during November was over five inches. The. normal November rainfall is 2.22 inches.
