THEATRE SHORTAGE
FOR NEW LONDON PLAYS. Monday added three more plays to the growing list of productions waiting in ti e provinces for their chance to <«L into London theatres. They are “Craig’s Wife ” with Miss Phyllis Neilson Teiry in the leading part, at Nottingham; “Burlesque,” with Mr Nelson Keys, at Portsmouth; and 4 ‘The Broken Line,” with Miss Violet Loraine, at Edinburgh. All these plays are intended for early transfer to West End theaties. The problem is to find enough theatres for all the plays that are ready to come out of the provinces. Mr George Robey will shortly return from Canada with a new revue, “In Other Words,” ready for immediate production in this country; “Her Past,” a comedy for Mlle. Alice Dely sia, opens at Lewisham soon; and “Always Afternoon,” a new play by Ml Ralph Stock, at Portsmouth. The production of “Beau Geste” is delayed owing to a scarcity of theatres, Which is particularly acute just now.
