A STRONG DEMAND

QUESTION OF REPRESENTATION

The Waikato Farmers’ Union’s request for thg elimination of the Trade and Government representatives from the Dairy Control Board was rejected by the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. O. J. Hawken) in a letter received by the Farmers’ Union to-day. The Minister stated that in view of tho fact that the Control Board was vested with wide powers of control over the produce owned by all interests, proprietary as well as co-operative, and having regard to the influence which exercise of these powers can exert upon the welfare of the producers and consumers of the Dominion, the Government is of the opinion that is only equitable that all interests immediately concerned and also the Government should have due representation.
