FROM THE MAILBAG
A PROPHETIC FACT Sir, —A wonderful book the Bible. It reveals that one of King George’s ancestors was reigning as king over Israel in Jerusalem in B.C. 603, when the king of Babylon invaded the country and took possession of Jerusalem, and ultimately deported the whole population to Babylon except a few who escaped to Egypt. prophecy shows that Jerusalem, shall bo in possession of the nations for 2500 years. It was held successively bv Babylon, Persia, Greece. Rome, and last by Turkey. The Lord Jesus confirmed the prophecy when he sai»l: “Jerusalem shall be trodden down of th c nations, until the time of the nations be fulfilled.” That is the 2520 years, foretold long previously. The 2520 passed away, and in August 1917, General Allenby recovered Jerusalem for King George and Great Britain (Israel), the prophecy of the recovery of Jerusalem after 2520 years being thus an accomplished fact. The Press cable in the 11 Chronicle, from New York last week, re “Daniel’s dates, and the war,” reminded me of an astronomical fact, which I think interesting. The two prophetic periods in Daniel of 1260 years and 2300 years as the duration of certain events, are also soli-lunar cycles of remarkable perfection and accuracy. The diff.v.’eiice between these two periods, which is 1040 years, is the largest accurate lunar cycle known. These cycles were unknown, until a Swiss astronomer engage I in some chronological researches in the Book of Daniel, discovered them. Daniel could not have known they were soli-lunni cycles, which the accurate researches of modern science, have prove! them to be. Their insertion can only be accounted for by Divine in Culled from H. Grattan Guianese, “ Ap Eid of the Age, ’ pigs 599406. J.H.H.
