GENERAL PRODUCE HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated April 14 from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Apples. Hertford arrived but only small quantity on market yet. Condition so far good. Market quiet. Prices:— Cox’s Orange, 17s to to 20s per case; Dunn’s Favourite, .12s to 14s per case. Huntingdon and Arawa due on Monday. Wool. Bradford market quiet and quotations for tops are unchanged. Hemp. Manila market quiet but steady. Continued demand for distant shipments, but sellers are reserved. Closing values of “J” grade £3B to £3B 10s according to position. Output last January to March 31 348,000 bales against 295,000 hales same period last year. Stocks in Manila on March 31, 144,000 bales against 103,000 bales same time last year; in Great Britain 10,000 bales against 3,500 bales. Sisal market unchanged. Few sales reported at last ‘quotations. New Zealand: Little better enquiry fur shipment and moderate business has been done at last rates quoted. Nominal closing values unchanged. T allow. No auctions this week. No change in market. Honey. Market quiet. Present quotations are:—New Zealand-, unchanged; Jamaican, 34s to 37s 6d per cwt; Californian, 45s to 455; Santo Domingan, 32s 6d to 455; Haitian, 32s to 45s 6d; Siberian, 28s to 47s 6d; Canadian, 48s to 545.
