SWANKERS' CLUB

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE THE YEAR’S CAMPAIGN The initial meeting of the new executive council ofjthe Swankers’ Club for 1928 was held on Alon.day evening. Bro. Fry (president) was in the chair, and also present were Bros. Bond, Newrick, Dreyer, Webby, Hillgrove, Bell, Sharpe and L. C. Swan. Apologies were received from Bros. Firth, Cunningham, Pritchard and Dunn. Tho president on opening the meeting welcomed the new members of the committee and expressed the hope that the same spirit of unity would prevail this year as it had done in the past. He stated that the committee must be prepared for a strenuous year’s worls. The main business of the evening was the appointment of sub-committees, i the following being appointed:— Finance, Bros, Sharpe, Pritchard and the secretary and the treasurer (ex officio); social, Bros. Bond. Newrick, Bell, Hillgrove, Dreyer, Webby and Bonner; investigation, Bros. Fry, Boni'l and Sharpe; publicity, Bros. Bond and Newrick.

It was resolved that the annual appeal again take place on the Friday in between the Alay races. Full details of the arrangements will be published in the press later. Tihe president stated that it was very gratifying to note that already the club had received numerous promises of meat and produce from country friends, which augured well for the success of the day. The following new members were proposed and accepted:—Alesdames V. Bell, F. Newman, F. Harkness, G. Condy and Alessrs J. A. Cihencry and H. Newrick.

A donation of £2 to the funds was received from Air G. F. Aloore, Bushey Park.

The secretary reported that he had received numerous applications for left off clothing and it was resolved that an immediate appeal be made to the public. The club is appealing to tflic public for left off clothing of all descriptions and the secretary will arrange for the collection of any parcels.

Brother Fry stated that in order to increase the membership of the club he would give a trophy to tho member nominating the largest number of new members during the year.
