REAPING THE WHIRLWIND
“RED” LEADERS MENACED UNEASINESS IN RUSSIA RIGA, July 25. It is reported iu Moscow that in Leningrad and Moscow there exists extreme uneasiness, which is further increased by the large number of arrests made by the police. In the two cities named over 2,000 persons of various social positions have been arrested by order of the Soviet Government. In all the big towns and centres of importance the guard over State buildings, arsenals and storehouses, Communist clubs, etc., has been increased. In Moscow a report was spread that in connection with the recent execu tions effected by the police several members of the Soviet Government and leaders of the police, including Menshinsky, Yagoda, Pavlunowsky, and Messing, have received letters in which lhey are informed that on account of their “bloody deeds and assassina tions” they have been sentenced to death by the “Avengers for the Russian Nation.”
