AT SEA AGAIN
THE ROYAL TOURISTS RENOWN LEAVES MARQUESAS Received Feb. 13, 10.30 p.m. MELBOURNE, Feb. 12. A wireless message from H.M.S. Renown states that the missionary Delmas, who remembered Robert Louis Stevenson’s sojourn on the island, visited the ship bearing gifts of fruit. He gave some interesting reminiscences of the old cannibal day? and feasting places. The French Administrator paid a final official call farewelling the Duko and Duchess, during the afternoon, the Duke presenting him with a souvenir of the visit and expressing gratitude for all he had done. He also sent a message to the Governor of Papeete warmly appreciating the courtesies shown to the Renown. Late in the afternoon the natives clustered on all the vantage points ashore, seeing a fine bit of ship handling, there being not much room to swing the Renown, which turned almost in her own length, apparently as easily as a ferry boat, and then swung to sea at the rate of 15 knots.
