GERMAN AIR AIMS

LARGE SUMS SPENT. A delegation from French Chambers of Commerce, headed by Generfel Boueabeille (Director of the Comite Francais de Propaganda Aeronautiquc), has just returned to France from a visit to Germany, during which a study wfes made of German commercial aviation. Germans admitted to the members of the delegation that they were now spending large sums of money on feviation. In doing so, they said, they are sowing for the future realisation of a dream of every German —namely, air supremacy. The Germans believe thfet the economic development of to-morrow will be in the air, and that the economic activity of the world will be concentrated in those countries properly prepared for air development. Even during the winter months Germany is operating 38 aeroplane lines, fend the fares are, in some cases, cheaper than first-class railway fares. From Berlin to Munich, for example, the railway fare is 77.50 marks; the aeroplfene charge is 75 marks. From Berlin to Breslau the air fare is 40 marks, compared with 42.80 by railway. In addition to their internal air lines the Germans will operfete in the spring two new routes to Madrid and Rome.
