THE GRAND "LOVE AND SACRIFICE” To-day land to-night will be the final screenings of D. W. Griffith’s masterpiece, 4 ‘Love and Sacrifice,” which is attracting crowded houses at the Grand Theatre. It is a film version of a story by Robert W. Chiambers, and deals with the time of the American War of Independence. The hero is Nathan Holden, la despatch ridei on the side of the colonists, who falls in love with Nancy Montague, the daughter of a proud royalist father.. The ftimous midnight ride of Paul Revere, who set out to warn the colonists of the first apporach of the King’s troops, makes a thrilling episode in the eterly part of the film, while a number of battle scenes hold, the interest for some time longer. Variety is given to the later portion of the picture by a portrayal of the activities of the notorious Captain Walter Butler, who dreamed of making himself emperor of the American Continent land massacred alike both friend , and foe. The attack by Butler on Fort Sacrifice and his defeat and death there provide an exciting climax for the end of the picture. The romance of the hero and heroine, after a number of vicissitudes, comes to a happy ending. Carol Dempster, Neil Hamilton and Lionel Barrymore are in the leading roles.
