HUNDREDS OF DEAD TROUT WHOLESALE POISONING [Per Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH. April 6. Hundred: of dead trout floated down the Avon this aftPrnoon. Some poisonous substance which found its way into the river took a heavy toll, and the spectacle of the fish floating down stream attracted a largo number of people at the bridges in the city. The curator for the Acclimatisation Society stated this afternoon that he had made a brief inspection, but had not then ascertained what length of the river had been, affected or the nature of the poison. A few years ago fish were affected in a similar fashion.
