DECLINING BIRTHRATE

QUEENSLAND’S PROBLEM BRISBANE, April 1. The Registrar-General’s report on the vital statistics for 1923 refers to the declining birthrate as a matter for grave national concern. The Queensland birthrate fell from 27.58 per 1000 in 1920 to 24.89 in 1923, while the marriage rate declined from 9.80 to 7.24, and the death rate increased by .69 per cent.
