DALGETY AS T D CO., LTD. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Limited, Palmerston North, report having a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle at their Mangaweka Sale on Thursday, 11th August, 1921. Quotations: Fat ewes K>, light fat wethers 14s Id, forward bullocks, £t> ss, light fat bullocks £7 Is, backward dairy cows £6 to £6 2s 6d. At Bulls sale on the 15th inst. a fair \arding of sheep came forward, but there was very little competition. Fat ewes 12s 8d to 12s 10d. dairy cattle sold at late rates. NEWTON KING, LTD. Ltd., report as follows : At Inglewood on August 10th the yardinfg of sheep and cattle (store and dairy) was fully taxed, and enquiry extremely brighter throughout, cheep were in better demand and values on the whode showed an advance. The bulk of the offering of’ store .cattle compnsed yearling and 2-year empty heifers, tor which there was a steady and spirited demand. Jersey yearlings espechdly afforded keen competition, the tops realising £8 ills. A good yarding oi store cows, steers, etc., all sold »at lull market rated, almost a complete clearance at the hammer was efleeted in the store section. Enquiry was weak at the beginning of the dairysale, but improved considerably as the sale advanced, and nearly the whole of the yarding sold at full market rates. Fat wethers 22s 6d to 245, 4-tooth inlamb ewes 15s 6d. yearling steers 17s to 335, yearling heifers 23s 6d to 375, well-grown do £2 5s to £3 14s, Jersey do £4 8s to £6 17s 6d, quality do £7 5s to £8 10s, empty heifers £4 10s to £7 3s, in-calf do. £5 to £6 10s, empty cows £2 2s to £3 15s, store do. 20s to 345, fat cows £4 12s 6d to £7 2s 6d, springing heifers £7 to £9. better quality do. £ll to £l5, springing cows (backward and inferior). £8 to £lO, better sorts Lil to £l4. choice do £l5 10s to £l7, cows in profit £l4 to £l5, Jersey do. £lB to £2O 10s. At llahotu on 11th inst., a good yanking cain^;'forward and a satisfactory clearance made. Full inaiket rates prevailed throughout. Store cows 20s to 265, empty cows £2 12's 3d to £4 4s, yearling heifers £2 5s to £2 18s, better quality do £3 12s 6d to £4 15s. empty heifers £4 2s to £7, fat heifers £7 2s 6d, yearling bulls £2 10s to £B, springing heifers £l2 15s, springing cows £8 5s to £lO lO.s, bettqr sorts £l3 10s to £l5 Is, Jersey do. £l7 to £26 10s. At Urenui on Bth August, we report a fair yarding of all classes. Most interest was centred on the dairy section, and although the offering on the whole was only of fair quality, full rates were maintained, and a good clearance made. Store cattle were little sought after, with the exception of one pen of choice quality yearling Jersey heifers, which realised £lO 10s. Sheep values were unaltered. Ewe hoggets 12s 6d. m.s. do 8s Id, weaner pigs 12s 6d to 15s, store ers £lO 10s, springing heifers £ll 10s to £l4, more backward do £8 to £l7, cows in profit £lO 10s. 2-year-old gelding £22, 3-year do £lB. On the same day at Norfolk Road, we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr J. Perrett, at which buyers attended in stlvng force, and a keenly contested sale was the result. The herd, of 30 cows made the highly Scitisfactory average of £lB 15s. Other quotations: Springing heifers £lO. At Frankley Road, New Plymouth, on the 9th inst., we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr J. Grooby. There was a good attendance, and a complete 1 clearance was made at satisfactory prices. 2-year Shorthorn springing heifers realised £6 10s to £8 7s 6d, cows £l2 to £l5, aged geldings £2O to £25; implements and sundries made good values. At ohr Stratford yards on the 10th inst., we conducted a clearing sale of cows on behalf of Mr A. J. Brown, Douglas, at which buyers attended from all parts of the province. The cows on the whole were a good typy lot, with a sprinkling of Jersey, and although only in fair condition, sold very well, the herd of 100 making the high average of £l5. ss; springing heifers also sold well, making up to £lB. At Stratford on th© 9th inst., a good yarding of store cattle was submitted to good enquiry’ throughout, prices ■ remained unaltered. Store cows up to x£4 3s, 2-year empty heifers £5 to £6. others £4 to £4 14s, good yearling heifers to £3 19s, medium quality 1 £2 5s to £3. Tho dairy pens were l.ly taxed and almost a 'complete clearance effected. Prices kept up very well right throughout. A small dairy on account of Mr W. Johnson attracted attention, the best cows selling from £2O to £2B, poorer conditioned and backward ro £l2 upwards. Cows on ac count of other vendors up to £24. Top quality Jersey springing heifers £l6 5s to £l9, mixed heifers to £l3. DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from tfyeir London house, under date of August 12th:—“Butter: Market quiet generally. Danish 274 s to 2765. Australian 216 s to 2445, salted 5s more, New Zealand 269 s to 2705, Argentine 210 s to 2305. Cheese: Market firm but quiet. Canadian coloured 130 s to 1345, white 132 s to 138 s, New Zealand coloured 130 s to 1365, white 132 s to 140 s, Australian 120 s to 1305.”
