The Wanganui Chronicle. “Nulla Dies Sine Linka” WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 1921. THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS.
Only the vital importafftie of the matter and the seriousness of the consequences involved impel us to continue a discussion of which doubtless many people have become heartily sick. We feel, however, that we should be lacking in our duty to the community were we to cease our Opposition to the insensate steam-plant policy of the Mayor and his followers until the last hope of saving the burgesses from the threatened disaster has been shattered, or, iif' the more pleasing alternative, the men who are so obstinately opposing themselves to the best interests of the community have been compelled to yield to the mandates of reason and cdnitponsense. The Chamber of Commerce is this evening to have a further opportunity of pronouncing upon the Council’s extraordinary attitude, and-in the circumstances it seems to us desirable that we should, as briefly as possible, re-state a few of the salient facts incidental to J.he latest developments.
