ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
SUICIDE. • (Per Press Association J CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12. Louisa Annie Bannerman, married, aged 45, committed suicide by cutting her throat with a razor. At the inquest evidence was given that she was released on probation from Sunnyside Mental Hospital , last month. She had been despondent, but had shown no suicidal tendencies. A verdict of death from a razor wound in the throat, self-in-flicted whilst mentally unsound, was returned. INQUEST. DUNEDIN, Jan. 12. An inquest into the circumstances of the death of Janies McDonald Dales, a young married man, who was found shot in the front room of his house at Musselburgh on Saturday evening, was concluded before Mr. Widdowson, coroner. A formal verdict was returned that deceased died of shock following laceration of the brain caused by a bullet wound self-inflicted while deceased was suffering from nervous strain and depression caused by war service. FOUND DEAD. AUCKLAND, Jan. 12. Ebenezier Johnson, aged 36 years, was found dead at his residence tonight with a gunshot wound in the heart. A pea-rifle was beside the body. Deceased was a returned soldier, a painter and signwriter by occupation. He was not married. A BODY FOUND. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12. The decomposed body ot a man found floating in the surf at Sumner to-day is believed to be that of the man who jumped into the sea from the pier a fortnight ago, leaving his coat and vest on the pier. In the pocket of the coat was about £7 in cash, and an adc ress, “John Baird, care of J. Studholme, Hirsis.”
