“THE GREAT GAME" TO-NIGHT AT HIS MAJESTY’S. To-night Mr W. A. Low, the wellknown theatrical and picture theatre manager, will present to the people of Wanganui, at His Majesty's Theatre, what is considered the best sporting picture yet screened in the Dominion, entitled “The Great Gaine,” with England’s gentleman boxer, Bombardier Billy Wells, playing the principal part. “The Great Game” deals with racehorses, high life, and alluring “femmes,” ihtermingled with a basic drama of Human emotions. It has all the dramatic effects, all the humour and love interest, with plenty of thrills. Two of the most outstanding features of this truly sporting picture are the great Derby race, in which Lion Heart wins the blue riband in his colours; the race is wonderfully depicted on the screen, and the English camera man has on this occasion surpassed anything of this nature before shown, while the scenes around Epsom on the great day’ are most thrilling. The other great moment is when Weils has occasion to show his prowess in the ring. A big fight has been arranged to take place at the National Sporting Club, in which Wells has a big financial interest in one of the contestants. At 'be last moment, his man has been doped and is unable to appear. Wells steps into the ring, and a six-round battle of fierce fighting, takes place, much to the discomfiture of his opponent. As the plan is rapidly filling at Upton’s, patrons are advised to make sure of their seats by booking same or by ’phoning the 'theatre after 6 p.m.. No. 863.
