BUSINESS NOTES.

GUYTON STREET AUCTION MART. Crampton and Wood advertise in this issue a general clearance of household furniture and effects; also about 30 suit lengths to be sold on Wednesday, 12th, at 12.30 p.m., without reserve. MOTOR TRIPS TO MOUNT EGMONT Mr J. Hodson has instituted a motor service which promises to be very popular, viz., week-end trips to Mt. Egrfiont. Mr Hodson took a party up at Xmas hhd another at New Year, and now intends to leave for the mountain every Saturday afternoon, returning on Sunday evening. This is a most delightful drive, the cars going right to the Mountain House. Visitors have ample time for exploring the beauties of the mountain ravines, or, if they so desire, of climbing the mountain itself, as two of last week’s party did GIBSONS AND PATERSON, LID. Gibsons and Paterson, Ltd., have relinquished their business in Wanganui and proceed to Wellington to devote their energies entirely to the wholesale in which they have been interested for a number of years. Until discussing the matter with the firm, we had no conception that this house has been extensi’-i’v interested in the whole-'al** business, but investigation points out that Gibsons and Paterson, Ltd. have

for years represented some oif ths largest manufacturers of both England and America for territories such as South Africa, and Australia, besides New Zealand, which territory their represented ives cover periodically. To contend with increasing business, they have purchased a freehold in the heart of the wholesale area m Wellington, Lower Cuba Street, upon which is a threestoried brick warehouse and offiices, the new home of the firm, and from which future business will be conducted. Wanganui is not l<ssing sight of this firm altogether, however, as they are carrying on their high-grade chinaware department under the direction and supervision of Miss .Purnell, who has been iransierred from the Avenue premises to Draffin’s Garage showrooms, in Maria Place, which are more central, more mode.-n and most suitable for the purpose. The firm will trade under the name of the Burslem Chinaware Co.
