ECHO OF EASTON CASE. TWO DISQUALIFICATIONS. As the outcome of an inquiry held by Hie Wanganui District Committeeyesterday, a term o£ three months' disqualification was imposed on F. S. Easton, of Foxton, and one month disqualification on W. G. Trask iu connection with the racing of the Stevens in 1913 by Trask while the same was a disqualified horse, having been disqualified under one Wright in August. 1912. Mr Easton has lodged an appeal with the Racing Conference against the decision on the grounds (1) that the verdict was against the weight of evidence; (2) that no offence nor corrupt practice under the Rules of Racing was proved to hate been committed.

NOTES AND COMMENTS. (By “Early Bird.’’) Messrs J. Cameron (judge), F. McManeinin (handicapper), and C. O’Connor «starter), have been appointed to officiate at the Te Kuiti Racing Club's fixture. Sasanof is a most noteworthy nomination for tb.e Takapuna Cup. The Melbourne Cup winner is also in the Rotorita Cup. in which Mr Wynyard lias weighted him at 11.0. Paraoa. which was thrown out of commission a few months ago on account of lameness, was fired and turned out for a spell. He is still in the paddock, but will be brought in shortly, and if sound may be tried as a steeplechaser. He was an accomplished hurdler, and should do well over country. Air J. S. McLeod has got I'.old of a really promising coif in Kick Off, which won the Sylvia Handicap on the concluding day of the A.R.C. summer meeting. Kick Off won in really good style, and should be at his best when the autumn rolls round.

An Auckland writer declares there was a dead set made by one horseman against another at the recent A.R.C. meeting, which seems rather a pity, for riders nave to take sufficient risks under ordinary circumstances without resorting to such tactics. Unfortunately the incidents escaped official notice. Toe Kelburn Plate, which is run over a at the Wellington Club’s summer meeting, has attracted some of the fastest horses we have got. Those in the list are: Statuette, iHe Hawx, Arrowsmith, Rossini, Gloaming, Rational, Weldone, Dunedin, Canyon, Quest, Capping Day, Silver Link, ana Sweet Memory. The withdrawal of The Hawk from the A.R.C. Royal Stakes was due to the speedy son of Martian being taken bad me day before the race. A lot of people were keenly looking forward to .'i< second meeting with Mcrmin, and with a difference of 151 b. iu his favour would have had a lot of friends if he iiaa been started. featisiaction first ran for C. Gieseler at the Southland meeting nine months and a-hulf ago, and has started 2'J times in ni:- ( oiuiirs. being J 7 tunes in monej and winning ii in stakes. His figures are six wins, eight seconds, three thirds, three unplaceds. Aniythas is getting through useful tasks on tue Riccarton tracks and shows signs of muscle soreness, but otherwise is in good older, and F. D. Jones hopes to have him at nis best for tnc autumn

The trouble which came against Ar- ; roy.smitn after he had contested the I A I-Railway Handicap was evidently: not as serious as it was first considered, I lor he has been nominated for both the weight-for-age sprint events at the Wellington Racing Clubs summer meeting. He does not. however, appear in the handicap events. Man-o’-War, which won the Auckland Trotting Cup, was recently purchased bj the Hawera owner, Alt J. R. Corrigan, who paid it is stated 1500 gns. for ' possession of the son of Peri Huon. .Such an investment deserves success, and therefore the victory of -Mr Corrigan’s colours was well received. It is worthy of note that Alermin has been allowed to drop out of the Wellington Stakes, and it is understood the crack son of Absurd is to be given a short spell. The Wellington Stakes is one of the few classical races in which Rational, which many claim is equal to Mermin, is engaged, and it will be interesting to see now he gets on against the oider horses over the five furlongs. Although he did not consider it necessary to call the stewards together, Mr iT. 11. Davey, the cnief rikipendiary stewlard, who officiated at tire recent Auckland Trotting Club’s summer meeting, had a word with quite a number of the riders and drivers regarding certain happenings. It will not be very long before the old excuse of the difference in saddle and harness will have to be improved on if trouble is to be avoided. In each of the events she contested at the Auckland Trotting Club's summer meeting, Rangitata Lass paced most consistently, and the public soon ' recognised this, giving the daughter of ; Blackchild Jr. and iier driver, F. E. Jones, a great reception when they returned to the weighing •enclosure. Per- | fomiances like Rangitata Lass was rei sponsible for adding greatly to the enjoyment of racing, and wipe out some of the bitter remarks aimed at the sport, | " hen some of tiie other running is quid er review, writes "Whalebone” in the Air H. W. Brown’s pair. Going Up and Counter Attack, provided two of .the surprises of the meeting; in fact, the former provided a double surprise (says an Auckland writer). The fust surprise was tiie way the money poured in for the former, and the second the easy manner in which the daughter of Absurd won. In the apprentices' race on the second day Going Up was a starter, but did not show pace to suggest that lie would be equal to winning an event like the Grey Handicap. It must be a bit trying to an owner to have horses that run so queerly on different days.
