WELLINGTON, Jan. 10. : The largest tournament in the history • of Australasian bowiing opened in Wellington to-day—the eighth annual chain- J pionsliip tournament of the Dominion Howling Association. In the Rink Championship 64u players are engaged, comprising 160 teams. For the Pairs Tournament, 186 pairs have entered, and i 108 players will compete for the Singles. The tournament will last for . about three weeks, though the rink championsniD snould conclude early ; next w-cek. Ideal weather ushered in . the tournament. The bowlers gave the city a holiday appearance. All the greens in Wellington City and suburbs districts, to the number of sixteen. are requisitioned for the tourna- , ment. each accommodating ten teams, or five games. They will be used for tne whole of the tournament. There . was real bowling weather with a warm sun, a calm atmosphere, and an invigorating nip in the air. The greens also were looking their best.
