AN EXCITING INCIDENT.

FIRE ON A GOODS TRAIN. (Per Press Association.) TE KUITI, Nov. 8. A fire, fraught with dangerous possibilities, occurred on a goods train which left Te Kuiti for Taumarunui at 5 a.m. to-day. Some three miles from Te Kuiti a spark from the engine ignited a consignment of 300 cases of benzine consigned to Abraham nn*l Williams and R. Winger,.Taumarunui, and valued at £6OO. The patent fire extinguisher on the train proved useless. The train was shunted back to Te Kuity, where the local brigade coped with t'he outbreak.
