BOXING.
FRIDAY NIGHT’S CONTEST. JANNESSE AND GUNN AT THE OPERA HOUSE. It is quite a long time since such a lot of interest was taken at Wanganui as is being manifested at present in regard to the big fight to come off at the Opera House here next Friday night. In Jannesse the Wanganui Boxing Association has been fortunate in securing an exponent of the noble art who is in the first flight, and much is expected of him, and judging by his great Australian record the public will not be disappointed. Jannesse is a clever boxer, excelling in the open work, and has a style that will be appreciated bv the spectators. Harry Gunn, who recently outpointed Cann at Timaru for the ban-tam-weight championship, professional, lias been selected as the Australian’s first opponent in this countrv, and he is a boxer of promise. Friday’s big tight should be worth going a long wav to see.
