MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

A sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held yesterday before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M. George Clark pleaded guilty to drunkenness and stealing some knives and forks from a restaurant in tow’n.

His Worship said thefts from restaurants were becoming too common. It was an easy form of sneak thieving to bring off successfully, and when persons were caught they would have to be punished. The defendant was fined £2 55., and prohibited for twelve months. E. M. Sargeant was fined £3 for drunkenness and a breach of his prohibition order. Kemp Rupuha, a young native, who admitted the thef( of an overcoat valued at £5, the property of a waterside worker, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment.
