A ronferenec of local bodies in the Hauraki raining district is being uvrangod with the object of considering the best means of reviving the mining industry. It is felt that the mining law is somewhat antiquated,' as it was framed fdr conditions existing thirty years ago, and present day conditions »re radically different. The Coromanclel County Council is promoting, and the Thame-s country is heartily co-oper-ftting in the conference, which will probably bo held at the Tames in the immediate future.
